Writing
The written pieces in this section include white papers, articles, and project reports in the public domain. Most discuss an aspect of the future and often extend themes first explored in more focused consulting projects.
Many private and public sector futures projects, though they serve the immediate needs of the organization, are too narrowly focused to fully address the unprecedented issues that now confront us. Much of the writing here is part of an ongoing effort to think more deeply about these issues and how they can be resolved.
The underlying intention is to discern the organizing ideas that will shape society and the economy in the years ahead. The fundamental structure of the world around us is changing rapidly, and to understand what is happening it is important to think in broad terms about the evolution of the entire system.
The writing is grouped under seven themes, shown in the menu, and downloadable as PDFs or links to web resources. The pieces are either written by Hardin, or are reports to which he made a significant contribution.
